SAMDPR General NoticeCovid19 has turned the world upside down and for many across the world we are getting used to a new normal of lock downs and social distancing. Covid-19 and the SAMDPR South Africa has imposed one of the strictest lock downs in the world, and all gatherings for social and sporting events have been postponed. So how does this effect the SAMDPR? AUCTIONS In the short term, it has meant that all Regional Auctions have had to be changed to online only auctions hosted on the SAMDPR website, and we trust that buyers around the world will make use of this facility to buy some excellent pigeons. Auctions have already started and are listed on the site. Shipping of the auction purchases will take place once the lock down is lifted and the pigeons can be shipped. INTAKE DATES In the long run Covid19 has meant that our intake dates for the 25th SAMDPR have had to be delayed for a few months. How long a few months is will depend on the duration of restrictions put in place for Covid19, but we envisage an intake period of somewhere between August and October with the 25th SAMDPR taking place towards the end of May 2021. This would mean the SAMDPR would take place just before the local racing season. South African winters are relatively mild with little to no rain, ideal racing conditions! We will notify all entrants and shippers well in advance of the set intake dates. PAYOUTS Social media has been buzzing with rumours and speculations regarding the financial state of the SAMDPR. Covid19 has posed some challenges to the equity partners in the SAMDPR, but they are committed to finding a solution, ensuring every entrant is paid and the race continues. For now, the most important thing is stay safe, stay well and we will soon be able to welcome all our entrants to celebrate the 25th South African Million Dollar Pigeon Race. Yours sincerely,
